Target: Zinc Oxide, currently stratabound
Location: The NE end of the Monitors about 40 miles SW of Eureka Nevada.
Ownership: The Antelope property consists of 37 unpatented claims controlled by AuEx Ventures.
History: There are a couple of prospect pits.
Geology: Antelope is a zinc oxide project that was discovered during field work in 2007 in an under explored trend. Gossanous outcrops were sampled that ran up to 36% ZnO. The first ten samples included samples that ran 36.2%, 27.1%, 15.3%, 8.7%, 4.3%, and 2.8% ZnO. There is some Pb (up to 1.7%) but to date all samples are very low in other metals. The outcropping mineralization found to date appears to be stratiform and shallow dipping. The units hosting the mineralization found to date are a variety of lower plate sediments including Hanson Creek and Roberts Mountain Formation. Mineralization abuts and is covered by postmineral Tertiary volcanics. The area is heavily wooded and future work requires soils, stream sediment sampling, mapping and rock chip sampling.
